Durand Jones & The Indications Release New Single “Let’s Take Our Time”

Durand Jones & The Indications — the trio of Durand Jones, Aaron Frazer, and Blake Rhein — release their new single “Let’s Take Our Time,” out today via Dead Oceans. Following their beloved 2025 album, Flowers, “Let’s Take Our Time” is warm and romantic, made for swaying close and savoring the moment.

Frazer says of the track, “’Let’s Take Our Time’ is a tribute to old school courtship. The kind that thrives in anticipation and letting the excitement build slowly. One of the things we do best as a band is make music that’s easy to dance to, especially for people who don’t always like dancing. The music is sweet but the rhythm is tough, made for a two-step that works on a humid dance floor or a slow dance with your crush.”

The new single follows 2025’s Flowers, The Indications’ fourth album. On Flowers the group leaned into a particular desire to return to their roots in a Bloomington basement, a space where they first found camaraderie in gritty funk and Southern soul that would inspire their self-titled debut. Just as they did on that 2016 release, The Indications prioritized close-knit collaboration while creating Flowers. Much of the self-produced album was written together at Rhein’s Chicago home studio, and many tracks are based on one-take demos – proof that vibes were particularly high, each member pulling from their refined tool kits with ease.
